Hi Family,

Right now there are two competing signature drives to put Cannabis legalization initiatives on the ballot in California in November 2010.

One is found at www.taxcannabis2010.org

The other is found at www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org

Please look carefully at the text of both laws (the text of each is finalized) and make up your own mind which one you support.

I am supporting www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org because our law will protect Cannabis users from discrimination in healthcare, employment, and housing. It is a full legalization measure for industrial hemp and recreational cannabis which will restore full human rights to Hemp farmers and Cannabis users all across California. Of course supplying Cannabis to children will remain illegal just as it is today. Driving vehicles under the influence will remain illegal just as it is today. Cannabis users will still be fired from their jobs if they show up to work impaired.

There are two parts to our plan. The first part is to publicly post and personally distribute our "Freedom Lover's Call to Arms" in order to recruit volunteers. This document is available here-

www.imgur.com/dbU83

The second part of our plan is to ask everyone who volunteers to make a pledge for how many signatures they can collect in the next 30 days or so. 15-30 signatures is a good number. If enough volunteers show this level of commitment we can succeed. You can probably get that number from your family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors without having to solicit in public too much. This is an "out of the closet" movement. We will have to proudly advocate human rights for responsible, honest, hard-working Cannabis smokers in order to convince legitimate people to support us. I can supply stickers equivalent to each persons pledge number. These stickers can be used to generate interest and be given to voters who sign the petition. Here is the sticker design-

www.imgur.com/2cjvb

Feel free to distribute and use these images. Just don't copyright them.

We have 145 days in order to get the number of signatures that we need. Our petition is hot off the press on 9/11 and we have started collecting the first signatures yesterday 9/12.

We are polling 56% public support for Cannabis legalization in California which menas that this is an initiative which is not doomed. Its time has finally arrived; we are at the tipping point right now. Now is the time to do this and to do it right. We may only get one chance. If a law which is not exactly what we want is implemented then we may lose our critical mass and our ability to set it right.

I believe that less adults will smoke cannabis after it is legal. This is the case in the Netherlands where it has been available over-the-counter for 30 years yet only half as many citizens (percentage-wise) smoke as do citizens here. My economics professor has taught for years that prohibition has not succeeded in decreasing usage by increasing penalties. Instead it has destroyed lives and families without substantial benefit to society. After legalization hard-drug usage will decrease due to a "separation of the markets," a decline in the price of Cannabis relative to hard-drugs, and the restoration of honesty and common sense in drug education. Violence, thievery, and the incarceration of honest people will decrease as well. I also believe that a well regulated market will decrease the availability and appeal of cannabis to children. In fact teenage Cannabis use in California has fallen steadily since the passage of Proposition 215. Furthermore the adults who smoke Cannabis after legalization will be better able appreciate the majesty of nature in peace and unity without learning to fear and disrespect authority figures. This will be better for their spirits and better for society. Finally the human rights of legitimate medical Cannabis patients will be better protected than they are today. Legalizing Cannabis will create a safer, healthier, and more humane California for us all to live in.

If you want to help us in any way please contact the CCI campaign at www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org or write me at
deep_space_underground@yahoo.com I give you my encouragement to modify this message if necessary and distribute it to anyone who might help on any forum or by any mechanism.

Love,
-Fully Committed

Dear Medical marijuana supporters,

Thousands of people, representing all 50 states and every corner of the country, have volunteered to take part in Obama's grassroots healthcare reform effort. The response has been truly inspiring.

As medical marijuana patients and supporters we have an unprecedented opportunity to tell Obama’s transition team how medical marijuana is a part of our healthcare and should be considered as part of healthcare reform for preventative and treatment measures.

Obama’s transition team has asked for people to host neighborhood meetings about healthcare reform before December 31, 2009. We realize the timing is pretty tough for most people, so as an alternative, we are asking supporters to meet up with just one or two other (more if possible) supporters to fill out Participant Guides and report back to Obama. You can download the Participant Guide by visiting http://change.gov/participantguide.

If you’re interested in trying to host an event before December 31, 2008 you can down load this moderator’s guide: http://change.gov/moderatorguide.

The Participant Guide have everything you need to make your discussion a great success -- including key statistics and information that will stimulate the conversation and tips to make the discussion as productive as possible.

Participating in a discussion is the first step. But even more importantly, we need to submit our feedback to the Obama team. These will be read by a Transition team member and gives us another chance to show Obama our medical cannabis concerns are related to his national concerns.

After your discussion is over, please tell them how it went by visiting http://change.gov/reportback.

Both President-elect Obama and the transition team are committed to reforming the health care system from the grassroots up -- and medical marijuana leaders like you are crucial allies in that effort.

We are looking forward to making medical cannabis reform on a national level. Read below for an agenda and additional ways to contact Obama’s team about your medical marijuana experience and hopes. Remember the deadline is December 31, 2008. Make sure you submit your forms before the deadline. We don’t want the stereotypes of cannabis users to negatively impact the way Obama’s Transition team perceives us.

We know it is the holiday season and your have plenty of plans with friends and family. We fully acknowledge that your time is precious and want to offer our greatest gratitude for your participation in letting Obama know that there are medical marijuana issues that deserve to be recognized by the federal government.

Medical Marijuana Health Care Community Discussion:
Agenda

1. Introduce yourself to Obama and his transition team by sharing your story about medical cannabis.
http://change.gov/page/s/yourstory

2. Share your vision of medical marijuana in America with the Transition team.
http://change.gov/page/s/yourvision

3. Leave a comment for Obama about any medical cannabis service organization that you are a part of that has made a difference in the community. (MPP, ASA, NORML, SSDP, etc)
http://change.gov/page/content/discussservice

4. Please create a profile add a medical marijuana avatar, and Leave a general comment about the need for national reform for cannabis in the section Obama has opened. When writing please type out the words “marijuana” and “cannabis” because there is a chance Obama is monitoring word usage on the site. Abbreviations like “mmj” will not register in any meaningful way.
http://change.gov/page/content/GeneralDiscussion/

5. Answer any of the Discussion Questions you want on the Participant Guide. Question #7 allows you to address current harmful public policy and their interferes with health lifestyles and community health.
http://change.gov/page/-/Health%20Care%20Community%20Discussion%20Participant%20Guide.pdf

6. Fill out Participant Survey
http://change.gov/page/-/Health%20Care%20Community%20Discussion%20Participant%20Guide.pdf

7. Draft a Group Submission for Transition Health Policy Team.
http://change.gov/reportback

8. Consider hosting or participating in a medical marijuana community service event. (i.e. MS wheelchair wash, Cancer outreach, AIDS volunteering, Anorexia support, Arthritis help, etc) .

Ways you can help Charles C Lynch:

I wanted to thank you for showing interest in Charles Lynch's federal cannabis case. I'm doing everything to get the word out about this travesty and to get people involved.

Charles Lynch was convicted of 5 cannabis-only offenses in Federal court 2 weeks ago and faces upto 100 years in federal prison for operating a medical marijuana dispensary even though his dispensary followed all his business license requirements, city regulations, county restrictions and state laws. This grave injustice happened because cannabis is a schedule one drug under federal law. The jury was forbidden to hear any evidence about medical marijuana or state law and was instructed to come to a verdict solely on Federal law.

I first heard about Charles Lynch on Drew Carey's ReasonTV piece*. It's a sad video, so be warned. About a month ago, I was at a "Know Your Rights" training put on by Americans for Safe Access (ASA) and was informed Charles Lynch's trial was being held in LA that following week. I decided to show up because I was told dependent appreciate all the patient support they can get in court.
*http://reason.tv/video/show/413.html

I had never met Charles Lynch before but because I am a medical cannabis patient myself and rely on people like Charles Lynch to get my medicine, I decided to show up in court and give all the support I could. I truly believe no one deserves to spend the rest of their life behind bars for helping patients with their medical cannabis needs.

That night, after the ASA meeting, I visited Charlie's website* and emailed** Charles Lynch to tell him I was going to attend court and I got back a very gracious note from him indicating his gratitude and interest in meeting me.
*http://www.friendsofccl.com/index.html
**ccl@friendsofccl.com

After that, I contacted the LA Times (articles 1*, 2**, 3***, 4****) CNN*****, NPR******, KCRW*******, Stop the Drug Wars.com********, and other local and national news organizations.

During the trial, I created a list of things people could do to help Charles Lynch like: donating to Charlie*; calling or emailing Charlie**; thanking the media outlets*** who had already covered the story; showing up to the trial, etc. The items and the list were not much but they were what I could come up with and I, myself, donated, and showed up to the federal court for all two weeks of the trial.
*http://www.friendsofccl.com/donate.htm
**http://www.friendsofccl.com/contact.htm
***http://www.friendsofccl.com/news.htm

I met Charles Lynch the first day of jury selection. He's a mild-mannered, soft-spoken and compassionate man. He was with his mother and sister. His sister stayed for the entire trial but his mother had to return to New Mexico because another one of her sons had to go through cancer surgery. The family has been hit hard by emotional and financial burdens most recently.

During this time I also met with the offices of all three of my Congresswomen (yes, all my congressional representatives are female). I spoke to them about the affects of Federal drug policies on individuals and communities in California and I urged them to support John Conyers Letter* to the DEA and Barney Frank's resolutions HR 5842** (medical cannabis rescheduling) and HR 5843 (personal cannabis use bill).
*http://www.safeaccessnow.org/downloads/Conyers_DEA_Letter.pdf
** http://www.safeaccessnow.org/article.php?id=5515
***http://www.house.gov/frank/hr5843summary.html

I also educated them about the history and science of cannabis since a lot of what Congress knows comes from the Office for National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and by Congressional law that White House department can provide misinformation*. Title VII Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 1998 (H11225) section 12** allows the Drug Czar to lie about the scientific facts regarding cannabis.
*http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2007/10/09/theDrugCzarIsRequiredByLaw.html
**http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/about/98reauthorization.html

I've come up with a list of how You can help Charles Lynch:

~ I am planning a protest for 10/6 which is the next day Charlie will be in the Federal Courthouse in Downtown LA. Court support will start at 8am and rally will begin at 11am. The courthouse is located at 312 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles. Protesters are encouraged to bring acoustic instruments to the rally. Americans for Safe Access (ASA)* , Marijuana project policy (MPP)**, and National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws (Norml) will be helping plan and organize this event. WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO ATTEND.
*http://www.safeaccessnow.org/
**http://www.mpp.org/
***http://norml.org/

~ Email Charles*
*http://www.friendsofccl.com/contact.htm

~ Donations*. Charles Lynch has been unable to find work since the DEA and Local Sheriffs department violently raided his home and business. If everyone donated a $1 that would be helpful. If people can afford more that's great. I know one senior-citizen medical-cannabis patient who donated $50 because she knew she wasn't going to be able to physical support as much as she wants to.
*http://www.friendsofccl.com/donate.htm

~ Offer Charles a job. He's a software engineer by trade and lives in San Luis Obispo county.

~ Write Judge Wu and plead for Charlie's freedom. Supporters who wish to write a letter of support regarding sentencing should use the Letter salutation "Dear Judge Wu" and then send the letter to: Reuven Cohen Federal Public Defender at 321 East 2nd Street Los Angeles, CA 90012-4702. A sample outline can be found on Charlie's website*. I've written 3 letters myself (I had 2 other patients sign one of those letters each). And I'm continuing to write letters.
*
http://www.friendsofccl.com/index.html

~contact the media to tell them about this story and let them know how you feel.

~contact your congress people. E-mail, phone, write, and visit your Senators and your House of Representatives. If you don't know who your House of Representatives Congress member is go to www.house.gov and put your zip code +4 in the upper left-hand corner. if you don't know who your Senators are go to www.senate.gov. You can even visit your congress member's offices fairly close to your own home because they have satellite offices throughout their districts. Contacting Congress is vital because laws change in Congress and the only reason why the DEA and federal prosecutors are allowed to do what they're doing is because of a federal law; that law needs to be changed.

~ Pray for Charlie's freedom and for Judge Wu to use divine justice.

~ Spread the word about Charles Lynch and the protest. Talk to family, friends, associates, co-workers, classmates, schoolmates, roommates, lovers, anyone who will listen. Ask them what they think about the situation. If they don't know that much, inform them. Forward this email to everyone on your email list. Repost this on facebook, myspace, craigslist, live journal, blogspot, and any other website or forum you frequent.

~ Thank those that have been fighting for justice in this situation.

~ Join organizations like Americans for Safe Access, Marijuana Policy Project, NORML, etc. These organizations are making changes in legislation so people like Charles Lynch do not have to suffer at the hands of the Federal government.

Marc Emery, a Canadian cannabis and libertarian activist, is considering a plea bargain to save his two friends from going to prison in the United States. In the following interview on CBC National News, Emery explains the situation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4uc98rM33M

The plea bargain will most likely sentence Marc to a five-year prison term. In consideration of possible incarceration, Emery is “thinking of embarking on a Farewell Tour across Canada to speak to the people one last time.” The following is the proposed schedule:

St. John's, Newfoundland - Feb. 19
Halifax, Nova Scotia - Feb. 21
Moncton, New Brunswick - Feb. 22
Quebec City - Feb. 23
Montreal - Feb. 25
Ottawa - Feb. 26
Toronto - Feb. 27
London - Feb. 29
Sudbury - March 1
Winnipeg - March 3
Regina - March 4
Saskatoon - March 5
Calgary - March 6
Edmonton - March 7
Whitehorse - March 8
Kamloops - March 10
Victoria - March 12

Emery is also asking for help to raise funds for this tour. It’s estimated that the cost will be approximately $12,500. Once $3,000 is raised, the flights will be booked. The 16-city tour has one message, "Ending Prohibition in Our Time: My Crusade to Free The Cannabis Culture."

You can donate to the FAREWELL TOUR in the following ways:

1) PayPal bank transfer:
Send to jodie_giesz@hotmail.com, or donate to the ChipIn

2) Cheque or money order:

3) Cash donations:
Contribute in person at Marc Emery's Cannabis Culture Headquarters, 307 West Hastings Street, Vancouver BC (Deliver only to Marc Emery or Jodie Emery in the CC magazine office downstairs, or to Anna, Rhiannon, or Brandon in the CC Headquarters store on the main floor.)

Additional information on this case and the Cannabis Culture available through the following documentary: The USA vs. Marc Emery.

It’s difficult to explain what it means to witness our society condemn a human being for selling seeds to a plant. Maybe even having the need to explain such a horror, explains why we are at the tipping point, facing extinction due to our destruction of the environment. We, human beings, will never win a war against nature, and by waging it, we are destroying the ecosystem and condemning future generation to a miserable existence on a planet devoid of diverse life.

While we wait for Marc Emery’s future to be decided, we can enjoy and learn from the following documentaries, explaining in detail some of the benefits of Cannabis and the complete disaster known as the ‘War on Drugs’ (Please note that the first few minutes of the first movie are in Dutch, but the rest is in English).

T’was the nightmare before Christmas, and at the White House.
The president was smoking cannabis, talking to his pet mouse.

“Did you know that this weed”, He said to the mouse, “would cure all diseases?
This silly green stuff, which grows from the ground, holds miracles that are needed.
If everyone knew how good this stuff was, well I’d be totally f#@ked.
Just think of the millions of innocent herb users, unconstitutionally locked up.
If they really knew that The United States of America, was a British chartered nation;
Illegally run, by businessmen, managing THE UNITED STATES corporation.”

“That’s pretty tricky”, said the mouse to the man, as he handed back the bong,
“I’d never have imagined you’d kept up this nonsense, for even quite this long.
I watched JFK when I was a lad, from over there in the corner.
He and his brothers, and most of the staff were all quite avid stoners.
He was a DEFENDER of justice and truth, unlike you and the other VI KINGS;
That bullshit the masses, oppressed countless millions to secure the illuminati ring”

“What really bothers me,” the president said, as he took another big hit.
“Is how fast this info is coming to light, blowing the top off the lid.
If they were to see, that Washington DC, is a little country all on its own;
With its own constitution since 1871, and the dollars on high interest loan;
From the Fed, owned by Rothschild’s and quite a few others;
Tied to secret society, and organized by skulls, bones and frat brothers!
Sleazy old banker that make billions by banking both sides of battles;
Americans birth certificates, sent overseas and used as collateral.
They’ll riot in the street and scream out for vengeance and pain,
Until my weapon toting peace keepers round up and detain;
The millions of ‘terrorists’ that are sure to arise,
As the secret combinations unveil before their eyes.”

“That’s heavy”, said the mouse as he twisted up some hash,
“Just how do you expect American soldiers to do a dirty job like that?”

“Oh that’s easy”, said the president, as he bowed his head to avoid;
The cynical gaze of the mouse that was becoming quite annoyed.
“I’ve already made new money stamped: North American Union.
Once the dollar is dead, and the borders are dropped, and everyone busy looting;
I’ll offer up ‘new jobs’ to millions of hopeless and starving women and men.
Give the Mexicans guns and the Canadians bombs, oh America’s future is grim”

“What the hell”, said the mouse, “are you going to do in the end;
When millions are locked up, and more wake up, ready to avenge?
When people see through, all of the lies they’ve been forced;
To accept blindly as fact, they’ve been maliciously coerced!
And crop dusted and cheated and poisoned and infected!
In the bigGEST DAMN CONSPIRACY EVER CONCIEVIBLEY DETECTED!”

“Get off you soap box,” said the president as he dropped the smoking tweezers.
“You’ve got no right to talk shit, through those peasant lips, to rightful bloodline leader.
You know that I’m not the only conspirator in the mix;
That most of the orders, come from the Queen of England’s very lips.
And really who’s worse, under the nitty and gritty;
Look at the billions of deaths linked to Vatican City???
And look at the other Christian leaders, that know what’s going on;
Lulling the masses to sleep, singing the tithing for redemption song!!!”

“Pardon me”, said the mouse, “but you all are quite crazy;
This is nothing but global domination so the rich may remain lazy!
And speaking of control, probations and tariffs;
How long must you sit there and Bogart that spliff?”

“Screw you”, said the president, through the holes magically created;
Between the pearly whites as the lies increasingly perpetuated.
“I’ll keep this from you, just as easy as from the people;
By laws, or brute force, or false doctrine from a steeple.
For if I let you or anyone else, use all the cards that Mother Earth dealt;
Then THE PEOPLE would be self sufficient, and Babylon would melt!
As they grew their own medicine, food, clothes, and monetary wealth;
They’d also stop buying our drugs disguised as chemicals on food shelves.
Then the veil would come off, and the masses would look here.
For the first time in their lives, minds would be perfectly clear;
And this is a day all of us secretly fear”

“But that’s not going to happen”, said the president with a cough.
“We’ll just keep adding more poison to keep their menation shut off.
One of the most important rules of being ‘govern-mental’ by design;
Is to ruthlessly use every trick in the book, rather than let the plan die.
Secret oaths that I made, in the dead of the night, to men under hooded cloaks;
Keep me bound to my promise of conquest, using force to poisonous smoke.”

“This I know is quite true”, said the mouse, as he bowed his head to pray.
“But regardless of your plans and secret combinations, the Gods will save the day.
Millions of people, over thousands of years have all manifested salvation;
The elements have responded, seeds have been planted for continuing evolution”

“Our Heavenly Father would you…”, the little mouse said,
“…please stop all this madness, and badness, and death.
Please don’t use plagues, floods, or fire reigning down from heaven.
Just please loosen the noose on this oppression we’ve been havin’.
I have faith that everything that grows from the ground;
Was provided by you, filled with information that is sound.
I beg for THE PEOPLE”, the humble mouse cried,
For the poisoning to stop, in the water, food, and skies.
Of all of the stuff that these mobsters do daily;
The secret drugs must stop first as it’s making the world crazy.
And for the blatant poisoning of everything from kids toothpaste to babies pacifiers
May God have mercy on your souls, as you roast like marshmallows, on hells fire
To conclude”, said the mouse , “under the council of my grey haired furry shaman
I ask these things in Christ’s name, Yahweh’s as well, and not in the Egyptian’s god AMEN”

Peace, Love, and all that Shit…slacker
Marijuana Ingredient May Prevent Mad Cow Disease

Cannabidiol May be Effective in Preventing Bovine Spongiforme Enzephalopathy (Mad Cow Disease)

BBSNews 2007-09-16 -- (IACM) According to basic research of scientists of the National Centre for Scientific Research in Valbonne, France, cannabidiol (CBD) may prevent the development of prion diseases, the most known being BSE (bovine spongiforme enzephalopathy), which is often called mad cow disease. It is believed that the BSE may be transmitted to human beings. In humans, it is known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

The infectious agent in prion diseases is believed to be a specific type of misfolded protein called prion. Misfolded prion proteins carry the disease between individuals and cause deterioration of the brain. The French researchers reported that the non- psychoactive cannabis constituent CBD inhibited the accumulation of prion proteins in both mouse and sheep prion- infected cells, whereas other cannabinoids were either weak or not effective. Moreover, after infection with mouse scrapie, a prion disease, CBD limited accumulation of the prion protein in the brain and significantly increased the survival time of infected mice. CBD inhibited the nerve damaging effects of prions in a concentration-dependent manner. Researchers noted that CBD may be a promising agent for the treatment of prion diseases.
Cannabis May Help Combat Cancer-causing Herpes Viruses

Science Daily — Tampa, FL (Sept. 22, 2004) -- The compound in marijuana that produces a high, delta-9 tetrahydrocannbinol or THC, may block the spread of several forms of cancer causing herpes viruses, University of South Florida College of Medicine scientists report.

The findings, published Sept. 15 in the online journal BMC Medicine, could lead to the creation of antiviral drugs based on nonpsychoactive derivatives of THC.

The gamma herpes viruses include Kaposi's Sarcoma Associated Herpes virus, which is associated with an increased risk of cancer that is particularly prevalent in AIDS sufferers. Another is Epstein-Barr virus, which predisposes infected individuals to cancers such as Burkitt's lymphoma and Hodgkin's disease.

Once a person is infected, these viruses can remain dormant for long periods within white blood cells before they burst out and begin replicating. This reactivation of the virus boosts the number of cells infected thereby increasing the chances that the cells will become cancerous.

The USF team, led by virologist Peter Medveczky, MD, found that this sudden reactivation was prevented if infected cells were grown in the presence of THC. While cells infected with a mouse gamma herpes virus normally died when the virus was reactivated, these same cells survived when cultured in the laboratory along with the cannabinoid compound further evidence that THC prevents viral reactivation.

Furthermore, the researchers showed that THC acts specifically on gamma herpes viruses. The chemical had no effect on another related virus, herpes simplex-1, which causes cold sores and genital herpes.

Small concentrations of THC were more potent and selective against gamma herpes viruses than the commonly used antiviral drugs acyclovir, gancicyclovir and foscamet, said Dr. Medveczky, a professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology.

The USF researchers suggest that THC selectively inhibits the spread of gamma herpes viruses by targeting a gene these viruses all share called ORF50.

Dr. Medveczky emphasized that more studies are needed. "We have not evaluated the effect of THC in an animal model yet so we do not recommend people start using pot to prevent or treat cancers."

In fact, Dr. Meveczky said, THC has also been shown to suppress the immune system so smoking marijuana could "do more harm than good" to patients whose immune systems are often already weakened.

Note: This story has been adapted from a news release issued by University Of South Florida Health Sciences Center.

Hi all,

This is a long message, but it will fill you in with the details of what is going on. Watch out for further bulletin posts with the latest information....

Unfortunately, this is not the only thing going on in the news this week.... so please, stay informed, get active, and SHARE the info.
~~~~~~~~
July 12th
Dear Community members,
As many of you know, over the last 48 hours, Americans For Safe Access has been forwarded numerous letters from the DEA to the landlords of Los Angeles medical cannabis dispensing collectives. The letters are all identical except for the specific information about the collectives and their landlords (such as names and addresses). We have received an initial 17 reports so far. However, the DEA claims to have sent the letters to more than 100 landlords.
The letters all say (in less words) that the DEA has identified that you control a property, at XXX address, where a "medical marijuana" dispensary, XXXX Caregivers, is operating. Federal law states that medical marijuana is illegal. Nothing in California law takes precedent over Federal Law, including Prop 215.
Federal Law also makes it a crime to knowingly lease to a property used to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance. Federal Law also allows the US government to seize the property if the landlord knows what is happening there.
This letter shall serve as notice that there is a dispensary on your property, and you have now been made aware of it. You are advised that
further violations of federal law will result in prosecution, imprisonment, fines, and forfeiture of assets (property seizure).
It is signed by the head agent of LA field division.
A few of the landlords have contacted the DEA, and the DEA confirmed that they sent the letters. They have all been postmarked Friday. The first call we got was Monday morning at 9 AM. We had heard of 3 by the end of
the day. We have now seen 17 letters, and heard reports as high as 25.
The shops have nothing in common. Some are new, some are old, some are big, and some are small. Many have had no neighbor issues at all. Some see less than 10 patients a day. From what we can tell there is not any specific correlation or connection between any of the collectives who have received them. It seems that the DEA used Weedtracker as the source.
This is a serious action taken by the DEA, and ASA is working non-stop to find every way we can to fight this. It will take the most calculated and thought-out response we have ever launched, and we are dedicating every resource we have to developing our short-term response and long-term plan.
July 13th
Hello, ASA Members and Allies. I know many of you are worried about the recent DEA letters to landlords renting to medical cannabis collectives in Los Angeles. This is a serious threat and a real attack on safe access. I wish there were a simple answer to this new challenge, but there is not. I want everyone to know that collective operators in LA are committed to serving patients despite the risks and challenges. There will be safe access in our city!
Lawyers agree that landlords can not fight the asset forfeiture cases in court, as the US Attorney has the authority and jurisdiction to move forward. A legislative solution will take too long to be useful for the collectives and cooperatives targeted already, or for those will are likely to be targeted soon. We need a political fix for this problem in the immediate future.
There is a place for a public protest, especially one carefully crafted to generate grassroots support for a larger lobbying effort in Washington, DC. We need to think about who we intend to target with that protest and what we want them to do. The image and message will be crucial. Only a handful of people have direct influence over what is happening in LA right now. Unfortunately, most are in DC and insulated from grassroots pressure. I know community members are considering how to proceed now. Let’s all talk together and come up with a good plan.
We have to remember that this is a federal problem with a federal solution. ASA is the best vehicle we have now to effect a change in DC. ASA has the most effective communications team in the medical cannabis field. Last year, ASA was quoted in more than 3,000 print articles and an impressive number of broadcast stories. Our background work with editorial boards and influential journalists has helped turn the tide of media bias and public indifference on medical cannabis. ASA works in partnership with a prestigious public relations firm in DC to craft and place stories in high-profile media. Reflect on the media work around Gonzales vs. Raich, Dr. Abrams neuropathy study in February, or the DQA editorial in Science. All are good examples of effective media shaping subsequent coverage and public opinion.
We are working with the LA Times and other major media outlets to develop articles that will mitigate the inevitable impact this news will have on landlords statewide. Our story will also serve to maximize public sympathy for the patients, landlords, and operators. Chris Fusco is working non-stop this weekend with the staff in Oakland to set up key interviewees with strategic talking points. Getting our story in the mainstream press early will help frame how the media tells this story and shape public opinion. Effective media will also serve to underpin of direct lobbying efforts.
ASA Staff in DC is already calling Congressional leaders and coalition members to help us find some leverage with the Justice Department and the US Attorneys office. Because ASA is the only organization in Washington, DC, working exclusively on medical cannabis, we have seen doors open to us in the last two years that have been closed to organizations with broader drug policy agendas. Our lobbyists have become the go-to people on Capitol Hill and regarded as the most experienced in the field. Consider this: Dr. Barbara Roberts, former Senior Policy Analyst for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), is now the President of ASA’ Medical and Scientific Advisory Board – and our lead lobbyist in Congress. Read her bio at www.safeaccessnow.org/article.php Dr. Roberts is the caliber of expert to which members of Congress are accustomed to listening.
Most importantly, Dr. Roberts and the rest of our DC team are ready to act on this issue right now. Some collectives are already being evicted and that means patients are already losing out. I know many of you support medical cannabis passionately. Please make a a commitment to help me support ASA’s federal program and stop this attack. You may have assumed that ASA has ample resources for this fight. That is not true. We raise our budget week by week. We have no million dollar donors or big grants. If you, as stakeholders in the medical cannabis movement, do not support ASA, then no one will.
Take a moment to reflect on what stopping this attack – and changing federal law – means to you. Then think about what that looks like financially for you. We need funding for this fight right now. You can donate online immediately at www.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/donate or send a check to ASA at 1322 Webster St., Suite 402, Oakland, CA 94612. Please do it today!
Thank you, again, for supporting ASA and medical cannabis!
Sunday, July 15th
Hello. Thanks to everyone for the great input and brain storming on asset forfeiture threats against property owners renting to medical cannabis collectives in Los Angeles. I hear that several local collectives are starting letter writing or call in campaigns targeting strategic representatives in Congress. Others have made special pledges to support the lobbying effort already underway in Washington, DC. We had a good meeting with operators, two property owners, and a former prosecutor from the US Attorney’s office on Saturday afternoon.
On Monday, ASA is convening a conference call with some of the top asset forfeiture specialists in the county to evaluate legal and political options for resistance. ASA’s legal team will be joined by representatives from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Forfeiture Endangers American Rights (FEAR), as well as two former US Attorneys and two lobbyists in Washington, DC, who are already working on asset forfeiture reform. ASA is also working to mobilize our new coalition of HIV/AIDS and other health care advocates to the defense of the targeted property owners. I will send a report after this unprecedented call.
I have heard that some advocates are planning a protest in Van Nuys on Tuesday morning. I do not know what strategic conversations organizers have had already, but would like to suggest some ideas for media images and messaging for participants. When planning a response like this, it is a good idea to consider who has the power to change what it is you do not like (or do what you want to happen). Then you can consider what tools you have to influence those people. If, for example, you want to pressure the City Council to amend the upcoming ICO to allow for existing collectives to relocate, protesting at a time and place when the council is in session (while lobbying the Council members from the inside) might be effective. If, however, you want to encourage a change in policy at the federal level, lobbying members on Congress directly is a better approach. We are going to explore this strategic approach in depth at the LA-ASA meeting on Saturday, July 21 (see www.ASAaction.org for info).
Regardless of the strategic decision, I urge everyone to think very carefully about the images and messages their response to this crisis will send to the public and to Congress. Marijuana legalization advocates have used the spectacle of public smoking to garner media attention for decades. Sadly, this approach often backfires because media portrays the smokers in an inappropriate light. Editors at broadcast media tend to focus on the image of smoking publicly instead of the message of the protesters. Sensationalism sells ad space, after all. Adopting the public smoking strategy in a medical context is tricky. The public and elected officials are unlikely to be persuaded by a crowd of people smoking cannabis. If civil disobedience is part of a protesters strategy, I recommend an action that can not be so easily distorted or misunderstood. Blockades, public plantings, medicine give aways, and sit ins have been used effectively in the medical-only context.
There was also some talk at Saturday afternoon’s meeting about raising religious defense in light of the current crisis. I think there is sometimes confusion about churches and medical cannabis as a result of the extraordinary bravery shown by congregations in San Francisco, West Hollywood, and elsewhere in defense of patients targeted by federal enforcement. I hope that people of faith will rally to the support the medical cannabis community again, but we must be very clear about messaging. Cannabis is medicine, and that fact must always be at the core of our message. We do not need to substitute a religious defense for medical cannabis advocacy. Doing so sends the message that our goal is to legalize marijuana by whatever tactic we can, instead of protecting safe access for legitimate patients. I know many of us support marijuana law reform, but we must be careful that medical cannabis stands on its own merits and is never portrayed as means to an end. Do not underestimate the importance of this. We deal with blowback from the “bait and switch” issue at the ASA office all the time – especially in Congress.
Thanks, again, for your continued vigilance in the crisis time. I hope you will all participate in the LA-ASA meeting next Saturday (see www.ASAaction.org for info).
Remember, we still need your support for a federal solution to a federal problem – www.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/Donate
I imagine this Supreme Court case is going to generate some comical headlines and hopefully some serious discussion regarding Freedom of Speech and our rights as Citizens.
some patient reviews:
just got back from harborside, this place has huge potential. The staff here are excellent. They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and clearly qualified for their respective positions. Their opening day selection may leave something to be desired but the intensive care grand daddy is top notch and some of the others look pretty decent as well. This is a patient and caregiver collective, they do not force you to designate them as your caregiver in the way many other clubs do. These people are on the up and up, and are clearly trying to provide safe access to medicine for patients while also providing services above and beyond the call of duty. I'd say this place reminds me of BPG, just a lot more classy and a lot less hippy-style(not meant to be derogatory to hippies.
this club is a keeper, folks... the space is clean & bright, with tons of natural light coming in from the windows (yes, you can see in from outside). and the staff is as friendly & professional as they come, too. at this point they've got edibles, extracts, a few clones (jack flash, the odious HMW skunk & a couple others) and a decent though small selection of herbs (a little outdoor, some purples & a few other odds 'n ends). they're striving to have over thirty different varieties to choose from-- a noble goal if there ever was one.
go check this place out & give them the business... they deserve it!
as for harborside - oh my gawd! makes the BPG look like a soup kitchen. We stopped by because we'd heard that they were opening this month and were curious to see the space. We got a little preview (lucked into someone working on the space who gave us a mini tour) and can't wait - this is the club Oakland has been waiting for! Classy, classy, classy. Great BIG space with lots of room in the dispensory and seperate rooms for classes, massage, counseling, etc. If the herb lives up to the space I may just park my car in their big 'ole lot and move into it.
I was able to visit the ultra clean, brand new facility @ Harborsie health center 1840 embarcadero in oakland and I was highly impressed. Upon entrance I was greeted in with a handshake and after being properly checked by security I was instructed into there oreintation room. It was a painless verification process and although I had ocbc my compadre had medicann and his sf card and was able to get verification painless as well. The staff was courteous and they seemed like they were eager to get to helping me.
Med selection:
About 15 different varieties (could be more)
8ths range from $50-60 donation and they have some great concentrates as well. I purchased some Intensive care granddady Purple that was topnotch both in curing and effect.The jarred meds they sell are all sealed and weigh 3.5 grams (checked on my scale at home)
They also had some killer sour deisel best i'd seen in a long time for 55 and some odd 5 purple strains,
For patients on a budget they had purple budlets wich were the same purple nugs they had just smaller for 30$ quite a deal if you ask me..
and for you edible fans they had the standard butter bros products and a couple extras Im sure once they get going they will have a lot more..
Overall Vibe:
Im glad they gave these people the permits to operate this faciltiy because they seem really decdicated to helping patients they have such a huge facility with holistic massage rooms, really nice clean bathrooms and the best part is that the counters. the counters are sort of magnified i guess in wich the buds are very visible and sit on nice glass plates wich are very visible unlike some places where you gotta bend down and get on your knees to look at whats in the bottom of the case.. The place really gives off a more medical vibe than most places and they had a kinda spiritual vibe that i dug in there..
overall Im glad that this place is the feauture of oaksterdamm and I know once the secret gets out this place will be flooded with business..
bottom line:
If your in oakland this is the place..easy freeway acess,good staff and most importantly good meds..
Okay here's the situation as I understand it to the best of my impaired ability. In a few states farmers are finally standing up for themselves and banding together to be allowed to grow that which we have been waiting for all these long years. Good news, right? Oh how I wish! See, out of concern for the welfare of the women and children (like Waco), the Great White Fathers in WDC (and their Illuminati masters) have determined that the only hemp that civilization can tolerate are patented low to no THC varieties. So? Why not not just grow the "safe, drug-free" hemp and get the ball rolling and a real hemp industry started in this country? Well for one thing, the low to no THC hemp sucks in every way. It's designed primarily to be a fiber crop but the plants are short and the fibers are real short. Most industries are wholly dissatisfied with the products and the results are disappointing at best. And because of terminator technology we can't use them for seed production. It gets worse. There is every reason to believe that they will export their multipurpose suckyness to every other cannabis variety unlucky enough to be anywhere downwind.(Remember the"Starlink" feed corn and the Canadian canola catastrophe?) THC is a UV blocker which protects developing hemp seed from damaging radiation. Low THC hemp mutates and rapidly loses its reproductive vigor. Exporting this characteristic or God forbid the Terminator trait through air borne pollen would rapidly lead to the demise of the species. So please help me out here people whatta ya dink we should do? I mean it's only the most important ally our species has ever had.
I am one of 17 people who, in 1991, wrote the California Hemp Initiative (CHI) allowing people who need the use of hemp (slang termed: marijuana) for medical reasons to grow 6 plants or less in their own homes with out fear of prosecution.
The 17 of us who wrote this initiative then recruited an army of volunteers to gather enough signatures to get the CHI onto the voting ballot in 1992. California voters overwhelmingly supported CHI and it became state law shortly there after. I created 'Time 4 Hemp' as a way to bring attention to the CHI.
A copy of the CHI can be reviewed on the web site as can free short video downloads from each interview. You can also freely download the complete audio of each interview should you like. You can also download 4 video clips from my involvement in the Smoked Marijuana Study at UCLA funded by the US government if you have time for a quick chuckle. I am the only person in the world ever to be filmed in a study of that nature.
The 'Time 4 Hemp' weekly WebCast will broadcast LIVE, at High Noon once a week through the internet. Each program will then be edited and archived so anyone wanting to listen to it - at anytime - can do so.
We intend to rock the world (as always) with the message of:
"Hemp for Paper, Fiber, Fuel and Medication".
With that said, I'd like to invite you to listen in and be an ACTIVE AUDIENCE. The whole idea of broadcasting live is to give people around the world the chance to ask questions of each guest. Either through telephone (we'll have an 800 number) or IM.
I'll be posting up-dates about the series through my Time_4_Hemp tribe site.
If you'd like to be notified by e-mail of the first live broadcast, let me know.
You can send me a message through my Time4Hemp.com web sit at: Casper@Time4Hemp.com with the subject line:
I Want 2 Take Time 4 Hemp - NOW!
http://capwiz.com/norml2/mail/oneclick_compose/?alertid=7309441
Dear NORML Member,
In response to this week's Supreme Court ruling granting the Justice
Department the authority to prosecute state-authorized medicinal
cannabis
patients for violating the federal Controlled Substances Act, members
of
the US House of Representatives may vote as early as next week on an
amendment to bar the US Department of Justice (DOJ) from prosecuting
patients who use medical cannabis in compliance with state laws.
This important bi-partisan provision, scheduled to be introduced next
week
by Reps. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-NY) as an
amendment to the 2005 Justice Department appropriations bill, would
prohibit the DOJ and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from
spending taxpayers' dollars for the purpose of pursuing "any criminal
or
civil penalty or remedy against any person for the production,
distribution, or use of marijuana for medicinal purposes in a state
that
authorizes that production, distribution, or use."
Writing for the Court's majority, Supreme Court Justice John Paul
Stevens
said that he longs for the day when medicinal cannabis advocates "may
be
heard in the halls of Congress." The 2005 Hinchey/Rohrabacher medical
marijuana amendment does just that -- giving Congress the opportunity
to
go on record to protect and support the health and safety of patients
who
use cannabis therapeutically in compliance with the laws of their
state.
A vote on the amendment is expected as early as next Wednesday, so
members
of Congress urgently need to hear overwhelming support from their
constituents. Please call and/or e-mail your member of the US House
Representatives today and ask them to vote "yes" in favor of the
Hinchey/Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment. A pre-written letter
is
available here:
Friends:
I am writing today to urge you to take action against a dangerous bill
that is currently making its way through Congress. H.R. 1528, "The
Safe Access to Drug Treatment & Child Protection Act of 2005" would
dramatically increase mandatory minimum sentences for certain drug
offenses. Under the proposed legislation, sponsored by House Judiciary
Chair James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), any person age 21 or over who
attempts or conspires to offer marijuana to someone younger than 18 years old shall face a mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison. The mandatory penalty for a subsequent violation of the statute is life in prison.
Defendants found to have distributed marijuana near a drug treatment
facility, or who have offered cannabis to someone who is currently or
has been previously enrolled in drug treatment program, would receive a
mandatory prison sentence of five years to life under the proposal.
This effectively means that anyone caught passing a joint near a treatment
facility, or to anyone who has even been in drug treatment, will face a
mandatory five years in prison.
Please take two minutes to write your member of Congress today and urge
him or her to oppose H.R. 1528, an outrageous and expensive addition to
an already failed public policy. NORML has provided pre-written letters
that you can access at:
http://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=7419321&type=CO
H.R. 1528 has already passed the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime,
Terrorism, and Homeland Security, and will likely be considered shortly
in the Judiciary Committee. If your Representative serves on the
Judiciary Committee it is vital that you call him or her today and voice your
opposition to H.R. 1528.
Last year, Vermont and Montana became the ninth and tenth states to make medical marijuana legal, following the Marijuana Policy Project's intensive lobbying and public education campaigns (and despite heavy opposition from White House Drug Czar John Walters).
Now, MPP has launched a landmark program to help low-income patients in both states to obtain government-issued registry cards that will allow the patients to use and grow marijuana legally under state law.
Please visit www.mpp.org/patients to sponsor a low-income
medical marijuana patient so that he or she will no longer have to
fear arrest and jail.
The first two patients to be helped by MPP's new financial assistance program actually campaigned to pass their states' new laws:
* Robin Prosser, who appeared in MPP's TV ads during our Montana initiative campaign and who faced up to two years in prison after being arrested for two marijuana pipes, was thrilled when voters passed the medical marijuana law. But once the law finally allowed her to send in an application for a medical marijuana registry ID card to protect her from arrest, she was unable to afford the $200 processing fee. MPP's new financial assistance program helped Robin obtain her card, generating news all across Montana. Please see mpp.org/MT/news_1087.html for the story.
* In Vermont, Mark Tucci, whose tireless work was instrumental in
passing MPP's medical marijuana bill into law, couldn't afford the
$100 fee for the ID card that would make him a legal participant in
the program. "One of the last things chronically ill people can afford is extra medical costs," said Tucci, who suffers from multiple
sclerosis. "I applaud MPP for sticking around after the bill became
law and helping many of us with this part of the process." Please
visit www.mpp.org/VT/news_1075.html to see the news coverage of MPP's new program.
Patients are eligible for assistance through MPP's new program if they qualify for their state's registry program and their household income is no more than 150% above the federal poverty level.
Early response to the program has been overwhelmingly positive.
Vermont's Department of Public Safety is even promoting the program on its Web site --www.dps.state.vt.us/cjs/marijuana.htm -- which directs people to MPP's Web site.
MPP seeded each state assistance program with $2,000, but this is only enough to register nine more patients in Vermont and 19 in Montana. Please visit www.mpp.org/patients to help ensure that no patient will risk arrest due to his or her inability to pay the registration fee. You can choose to help patients in Vermont or Montana, or you can direct us to allot your donation wherever it is most urgently needed.
Please visit www.mpp.org/patients to help a needy patient
today.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shulgin, a former Dow research chemist, is well known for his creation and discovery of new psychoactive chemicals and for his promotion in the late 1970s and early 1980s of the use of MDMA in psychotherapy. Sasha and Ann Shulgin together authored and published the books PIHKAL: A Chemical Love Story and TIHKAL: The Continuation, detailing the synthesis of and their personal experience with hundreds of psychedelics.
The Shulgins will be online to address your questions on a range of topics from the "war on drugs" to the therapeutic use of MDMA. Please email questions@drugpolicy.org before February 22 to submit questions, and don't forget to bookmark the chat address!
Where: http://www.drugpolicy.org/events/shulginchat
Read on for further information about the Shulgins and myself:
Sasha Shulgin studied Chemistry at Harvard University and Biochemistry and Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco. He has authored over 200 research papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals, been awarded some 20 patents and written four books. Sasha has been studying the chemistry and effects of psychedelics for over 30 years. He was recently featured in the New York Times Magazine, which described him "not as a scientist in the modern sense but as a different type -- what Aldous Huxley, the novelist turned psychedelic philosopher, once described as a 'naturalist of the mind.'"
Ann Shulgin is a therapist who conducted psychedelic therapy before 1985, when MDMA was effectively made illegal when it was reclassified as a Schedule I drug. Ann is a researcher and spokesperson for the beneficial use of psychedelics, including MDMA, in a therapeutic setting. The Shulgins travel and speak extensively on the topic of psychedelics.
I am the founder and executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, the leading organization in the United States promoting alternatives to the "war on drugs." I've spent many wonderful hours with Sasha and Ann over the years. It will be a real pleasure to have you join our conversation.
---
The millions of people who watch the Super Bowl this Sunday will be inundated with commercials promoting everything from sandwiches to cars. But you'll be happy to know that sports fans won't be subjected to another round of outrageous government ads comparing marijuana smokers to terrorists, claiming that smoking marijuana will make you shoot your neighbor, or declaring marijuana the most dangerous drug in America.
Because these ads won't run, taxpayers will save millions of dollars - and they have you to thank.
For years our members have encouraged us to take on those costly anti-drug ads that do nothing to reduce drug use. We listened and then went to work. Now, the government's propaganda machine is on its last legs and we need your help to finally dismantle it.
With the help of thousands of people around the country we were able to get those unbelievable "smoke a joint, you’re a terrorist" ads off the air. In fact, the government hasn’t run an ad like that since 2003 (although it continues to run other anti-marijuana ads.) You may also remember that we were successful last year in stopping Congress from allowing the drug czar to use the ad campaign budget to run ads against marijuana-related ballot measures and pro-reform Congressional candidates.
But reform isn’t enough - the entire program should be eliminated. The government has no business spending millions of dollars in taxpayer money on a campaign that, as the government’s own studies show is ineffective and counterproductive.
Thanks to you we have already succeeded in cutting the budget from $180 million to $120 million. This is a significant cut by Washington standards. In fact, a spokesman for the drug czar’s office said those cuts were the reason they were not running anti-marijuana ads during the Super Bowl this year. The government can no longer afford to buy Super Bowl ads because of your work!
To top it all off, the program is now embroiled in controversy. A recent Washington Post article reported that the drug czar’s office sent local news stations across the country "covert propaganda" last year. This propaganda included several segments that used independently hired voice-over specialists to pose as reporters and read from a script prepared by the White House. A Government Accountability Office investigation found that the drug czar illegally spent $115,000 to produce and distribute these segments, and the ads cost over 2 million taxpayer dollars to air!
It’s time to move in for the kill. The program’s budget has been cut and the drug war extremists weakened. Five government studies have concluded the program is a waste of money and another study is on the way, Members of Congress are expressing outrage over the rampant fraud and abuse in the program.
Will you help us eliminate this program once and for all? Together we can do it.
Donate Now
There are two good opportunities this year. One is through the annual Congressional spending process - this is the best year in over a decade for cutting wasteful government spending, so we have a great case for further cuts to the government's ineffective media campaign. The other is through a bill that determines the scope of the drug czar's programs, including the media program.
In order to take full advantage of these opportunities we need your help, so please contribute to this effort if you can. Consider it an investment in curbing government waste.
Donate Now
Sincerely,
Thanks to your support the Drug Policy Alliance is able to battle the enemies of reform on multiple fronts, including in the courts. We have two important legal updates for you:
First: In a refreshing "man bites dog" story the U.S. Justice Department recently took our side in a dispute with Congress over the so-called "Istook Amendment." As you may remember, drug war extremists passed that amendment last year in a really lame attempt to keep organizations like ours from running marijuana reform ads on buses or subways around the country. With your help we were able to raise thousands of dollars in less than 48 hours to fight back. As a result we were able to sue the federal government, in partnership with the ACLU, Marijuana Policy Project, and Change the Climate.
The first judge to hear the case sided with our groups, but the government threatened to appeal. In a fantastic turn of events, however, the Justice Department said last week that the agency would not appeal the case because they don’t believe they could win. In fact, a Justice Department spokesperson said the Istook Amendment is "indefensible." Americans everywhere are now free to run billboard ads like the one our supporters helped us run last year in the subway station near Congress.
Second: Voters in Washington, DC had their votes thrown in the trash last week when a panel of federal judges did the DC Mayor’s dirty work and overturned Measure 62, the treatment-instead-of-incarceration measure that 78% of DC voters approved in 2002. Enacting this sensible reform in the nation’s capital has been a long struggle - first getting it on the ballot and winning on Election Day and then defending it in court from the Mayor’s army of lawyers. Sadly, the measure was overturned last week on a technicality.
But the fight is not over yet (DC residents, be on the lookout for an action alert in your inbox soon)!!! We’re going to spend this year lobbying the city council to pass treatment-instead-of-incarceration legislation. We’re optimistic about our chances of success because we have almost 80% of DC voters on our side. If for some reason the city council fails to act this year, we will likely put a measure on the 2006 ballot that the Mayor cannot block.
So, there you go. A clear victory on the Istook Amendment. A setback (or as we like to say, a "victory delayed") on Measure 62. We appreciate your support so much. Without people like you becoming members of the Alliance and taking action on our web site we would never be able to do what we do.
It’s in Whole Foods.”
Has he ever been given a platform to state his case or does he find that he's been blacklisted because of the typical sterotyped bias. What about outlets more friendly to his message like College radio or someone like Howard Stern. I think its important to try and get the knowledge out to as many people as we can through any means. Peace & Respect, Wade.
